Q: Do I need to take Driver Education and Driver Training in order to obtain a permit and a license?
A: If you are under 17 1/2 years of age you must take Driver Education and Driver Training from a public or private school or state licensed, professional driving school.
Q: How old do I need to be to take Driver Education (classroom course).
A: There is no specific lower age limit you must be to take the course. When the student completes the course they will receive a state completion certificate.
Q: What is the minimum age I need to take the test at the Department of Motor Vehicles for my instruction permit?
A: 15 1/2 years of age.
Q: If I am between 15 1/2 and 17 1/2 years of age when I complete Driver Education what two forms do I need in order to take the provisional permit test at the Department of Motor Vehicles.
A: DL 400B Certificate of Completion of Classroom Driver Education or DL 400C Certificate of Completion of Non-Classroom Driver Education (Online Course)
Q: What is the minimum age to take the test at the Department of Motor Vehicles to obtain a minors’ provisional license.
A: 16 years of age.
Q: What are the minors’ provisional license requirements during the first 12 months after they turn 16 years of age and acquire their license.
A: During the first 12 months after your are licensed, you cannot drive between 11pm and 5:00am and you cannot transport passengers under age 20 unless you are accompanied by your parent or guardian, a licensed driver 25 years of age or older, or a licensed or certified driving instructor.
Q: If I miss a day or more of the four day Driver Education class how do I make up the time.
A: Whatever day you miss you must make up. You can make up the class you miss at most of our locations. Just call our office phone (408) 972 -1168 and press 2#. A list of our classes, dates, and their locations will be presented. Leave a message on the telephone or via e-mail of the date and location where you plan on making up the class. Q: Does Economic Driving School offer online Driver Education?
A: Economic Driving School does offer the DMV APPROVED Online Driver Education course. You can read about the course and register at: www.economicdrivingschool.com/online. There are a number online courses on the internet but many are not DMV approved.
